Aris Caslib, Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Education Department head instructor, yesterday said that they are looking forward of much prepared Filipino kids who can be part of the national youth team by 2020.
“These teams joining 3rd Negros Occidental Football Association Under 13 Invitational Cup are fortunate because NOFA has provided a venue for these young talents to be discovered and for the coaches to flourish,” he said. “For now, we are just trying to identify the talents and not yet collecting them. Japan Football Association consultant to the Philippines Reiji Hirata will stay for the rest of the tournament to help in the talent identification,” he added.
Having this kind of tournament on a national scale, Caslib stressed the importance for these kids in the country to play in one venue and gauge how good they are. “They will be able to experience playing as a team and perform as individual players against the rest of the participants.”
Caslib also reminded the coaches that they have to consider that these players are young kids. “We have to nurture their skills, their football decision making capacities and their lives. We have to remember that this tournament is for kids and we have to let them play,” he added.*
