Christian Talamor scored a penalty goal in the 65th minute to lift Iloilo City over Negros Occidental, 1-0 and emerged champions of the recently-concluded 1st Governor’s Cup Regional Invitational U15 Football Championship played at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
It was recalled that the Negrense side ruled Iloilo during the elimination round, 2-1 on the goals of Reuben Allen Liamsing while Rolf Alminaza for the latter side.
En route the finals, eventual champions Iloilo reaped Capiz, 17-0 led by RJ Ollidinaraj’s hat-trick in the 58th, 63rd and 74th minutes while Talamor, Alminaza, Mel Baylon, Zymone Biñas and Axel Andres fired 2 goals each, as Pillora Jil Sander, Archie John Belluga, Justin Clavaton, and Adrian Oren Diaz with a goal apiece.
On the other hand, eventual ‘Best Striker’ awardee Joshua Limco anchored Negros Occidental in a 12-0 demolition over Aklan with 5 goals as Chyle Miraflores, Justin Raven Mesina and Gerhard Moreno hit 2 goals each, while Ram Treyes added 1 goal.
Iloilo’s Kondrad Keim Sollorin was named ‘Most Valuable Player’ and ‘Best Defender’ as teammate Mel Baylon is the ‘Best Midfielder’ while Negrense Regiezald Cabistrante was named ‘Best Goalkeeper’.
Capiz, on the other hand, settled for 2nd runner up honors.*
