THE University of St. La Salle (USLS) Stingers will return to the championship match of the men’s football competition in the ongoing 2017 UNIGAMES after beating De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, 2-1 in yesterday’s semi-finals at the Gov. Mariano Perdices Coliseum in Dumaguete City.
It was a tough game for the Bacolod City-based side but Regie Cisneros goal in the 76th minute and Harunori Aoki’s penalty in the 110 minutes during the extension period.
En route the semis, the Stingers also survived over De La Salle University-Manila, 2-1 on goals from Aoki (10’) and Kenneth Paul Infante (12’).
During the elimination, the USLS also defeated erstwhile defending champion University of the Philippines behind Tristan Kit Robles’ goal.
USLS will face National University Bulldogs in the finals after the latter squad defeated UP in the other semis match, 1-0.*
