MORE than 140 paddlers from across the Visayas and Mindanao regions are expected to flock to Bacolod City to compete the 1st Altruists Cup 2017 Table Tennis Championship on October 27-29, 2017 at the City Mall Mandalagan.
Players will come from provinces of Antique, Capiz, Surigao, and Negros Occidental as well as cities of Iloilo, La Carlota, Silay, Sagay, Cadiz and Bacolod; and municipalities Janiuay-Iloilo, Isabela, and La Castellana.
Among the events to be contested are: 6 years-old, 8 years-old, 10 years-old, 12 years-old, 14 years-old, 16 years-old, and 18 and under. Also to be played are men and women’s team events for 25-35 years-old, 36-45 years-old, 46- 55 yeas-old, and 56 years-old Up.
Prominent UAAP women players will also play in the said competition.
Altruists Table Tennis Association of Bacolod, Inc. president Engr. Paul Puentespina said that through this event, they will able to show concern for the welfare of others. “During the tournament, we will be selling t-shirts to raise fund to help medical bills of Olympian Ian Lariba – who was diagnosed with cancer,” he added.
Also supporting the event includes the Fil-Sino Cultural Center Foundation headed by Luis Chan, PNP PRO 6 under Regional Director C/Supt. Cesar Howthorne Binags, PNP Crime Lab-Negros C/Supt. Helen Pasoy, SJIB92, Ducati, Donic Philippines, and Bacolod Luis Paint Center.*
