Sinining captures 16 Under Kiddies title

ESCALANTE City-hailed Aeron Kief Charles Sinining scored 6.0 points (31.5 BH) to capture the title of the recently-staged 16 Under Kiddies Chess Championship held at the Ayala Malls in Talisay City.

With the win, Sinining took home the amount of 100 Australian dollars while Victorias City’s Jinky Catulay settled 2nd place with 6.0 points (31.0 BH) and received Php 2,000, as Shieldon Coleta of Bacolod City finished 3rd place with 6.0 points (29.5 BH) and Php 1,000. They also received trophies, medals and certificates.

Completing the Top 10 include: Manilyn Cabungag, Jamon Cajeras, Lhiam Lingco, Gemmuel Claro, Patrick Ofianga, Mico Villanueva and Clark Ken Pelione.

The tournament, which was organized by Negros Island Chess Aficionado headed by Tibor Espinosa, aimed to provide avenue for young Negrense woodpushers to further enhance their talents.

Moreover, the tournament also served as tune-up match for those players who will be competing in next year’s NIR Regional Meet in Dumaguete.*
