Yanson says Ceres Cup is beyond sports undertaking

THE successful staging of Ceres Cup invitational football festivals were beyond sports undertaking, stressed by Leo Rey Yanson – owner and president of the Ceres Negros Football Club  (formerly Ceres-La Salle FC), after the club gets nominations in the 1st Philippine Sports Tourism Awards Night in relation to the hosting of the said football festival.

Ceres Negros FC was nominated as Sports Tourism Event of the Year – Domestic and Sports Tourism Organizer of the Year – Private, the event will be held on November 22, 2016 at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.

It was recalled that Ceres Cup started in 2014 with 306 teams while got 408 in 2015 and has 446 last May – which continuously increase the number of participants during the staging.

Yanson further said that aside from the football festival, the holding of the Ceres Cup provides enthusiasts the opportunity to foster and exhibit sportsmanship in a competitive, safe, and friendly environment, adding, that the successful staging of the Ceres Cup III has become an encouragement and promotion of football development in the country – making it the most popular in terms of participation aside from contributing to the sports tourism initiatives of the province.

The Ceres Negros FC owner also stressed that staging such event also helped the local governments generate revenues through hotels, restaurants and even in the transport sector.

“With the influx of team supporters like parents and relatives of players, it able to fill up the hotels in the Cities of Bacolod and Talisay, as well as offered them our best foods and delicacies,” Yanson said. “And, while our participants’ families are here, we also get the chance to present our various tourist spots in the province,” he added.

Yanson said that they will make sure that next year’s Ceres Cup will be better and festive for everyone joining.*
